Auto accidents that are caused by drunk drivers are especially serious and cannot be tolerated. That's why our legal team is especially harsh if any collision or harm is the result of drunk driving.

Drunk Driving Is Never Acceptable

Whether you are severely intoxicated or just a little bit tipsy, there is never any justifiable reason for driving while you are drunk. If you are ever in a situation in which you are too intoxicated to operate a vehicle safely, be sure to wait until you are sober before you get behind the wheel, or be sure to call a friend or a car/cab service to pick you up. Never risk your life or the lives of others by driving drunk.

The Legal Limit In the State of Utah

With the above in mind, the legal blood alcohol content (BAC) in the state of Utah is 0.08%. The legal limit is 0.04% for drivers of commercial vehicles. There is also a zero tolerance policy for BAC in Utah if the driver is under age; in other words, if you are under 21 years old, your legal BAC is 0%.

The Dangers Posed By Drunk Drivers

When drivers are intoxicated, their decision-making skills and reflexes are impaired. Vision and reaction times are also worse, which makes the drunk driver far more dangerous to those on the road. Drunk drivers are more likely to violate rules of the road as well, which means running red lights, speeding, and failing to signal.

The Centers for Disease Control estimate that almost 30 people in the United States die from alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents every day, meaning one drunk-driving death every 48 minutes.

Pedestrians and Bicyclists Are Threatened as Well

Not only are other people on the road at risk, but so are bicyclists and pedestrians as well. Drunk drivers are less likely to be attentive of bicyclists who are sharing the road responsibly or people trying to cross the road legally.
