Todd Wahlquist is a Partner at Younker Hyde Macfarlane who has spent the past 25 years litigating complex cases and holding medical and legal professionals responsible for their actions. Although Todd has represented hundreds of patients injured as a result of medical malpractice, he understands that the only case that matters to you, is yours. Whether you have suffered your own injuries, or have been harmed by the wrongful death of a loved one, Todd is committed to making sure your story gets told.
Although Todd is based in our Salt Lake City injury law office, he practices all over the state of Utah and is also licensed in the State and Federal Courts of Idaho and Wyoming. He has argued cases before the Utah Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court.
After establishing his reputation representing patients injured by doctors and hospitals, Todd was appointed by the Utah Supreme Court to sit on the court’s Ethics and Discipline Committee where he heard cases involving ethical complaints against attorneys. Todd was soon hired as Deputy Senior Counsel with the Utah State Bar’s Office of Professional Conduct where he spent several years investigating and prosecuting attorneys for professional misconduct. Lured by the challenge of representing individual patients and their families as they went up against wealthy physicians, corporate hospitals, and their insurance companies,
Todd returned to his roots and came back to private practice. His experience with the Bar has given him important insight on what clients should be able to expect from the attorney they hire to help them navigate the challenges of finding justice in a system that often feels overwhelming. Todd understands that if he is entrusted with protecting someone’s interests, then he needs to do everything he can to earn and keep that trust.
Prior to going to law school, Todd earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and spent several years working in the film and television industries in various capacities. Learning the art of telling a story to an audience has proved invaluable in helping judges, juries and insurance companies understand what his clients are going through as a result of medical negligence. Todd thoroughly enjoys the process of getting to know his clients, pouring through their medical records, learning the medicine, discovering what happened, and then telling that story at trial.
Todd has served as the chair of the Medical Malpractice Division of the Utah Association for Justice, is a member of the American Association for Justice, and has published numerous articles on issues related to litigating medical negligence cases.
Todd has three amazing kids, and one amazing grandson. He is fluent in movie quotes and enjoys exploring new places, DIY projects, and those frozen chocolate dipped ice-cream cones with the little nut sprinkles on top.
